Visual Evoked Responses in Man: Normative Data.

چکیده
The fundamental importance of the characteristics of the cerebral electrical response to a simple pulse of light in man is evidenced by the number of workers who have provided information about its features from conventional recordings. Detailed description awaited the development of more powerful analytical tools. With the recognition of the usefulness of photographic superimposition, correlational analysis, and summation techniques (Dawson, 1947; Brazier and Casby, 1951, 1952; Dawson, 1954; Barlow and Brazier, 1954; Brazier and Barlow, 1956), the way was opened for a new phase in the examination of the complexities of cerebral organization. The major features of the visual evoked response have now been outlined by CigLnek, Cobb, Dawson and others. Studies which have included an analysis of latency and polarity of individual components of the response are listed in TABLE 1. The present study was designed to furnish additional information about response morphology, particularly as it might vary in relation to recording site, with the hope that it might lead to an increase in the clinical application of the technique. Also, a preliminary survey of possible relationships between major features of the response and such normal variables as age, eye color, refractive error, color blindness, pupil size, subjective estimate of light intensity, prior night's sleep, alpha frequency, alpha amplitude, and alpha persistence was undertaken.

Feature Extraction of Visual Evoked Potentials Using Wavelet Transform and Singular Value Decomposition
Introduction: Brain visual evoked potential (VEP) signals are commonly known to be accompanied by high levels of background noise typically from the spontaneous background brain activity of electroencephalography (EEG) signals. Material and Methods: A model based on dyadic filter bank, discrete wavelet transform (DWT), and singular value decomposition (SVD) was developed to analyze the raw data...
متن کاملVisual gamma oscillations and evoked responses: Variability, repeatability and structural MRI correlates
There is increasing interest in the role gamma oscillations ( approximately 40 Hz) play in visual information processing. Despite this interest, and in contrast to the classically studied visual evoked potential, surprisingly little is known about the intra-individual repeatability of induced gamma oscillations. Similarly, little is known about inter-individual variability in terms of gamma osc...
متن کاملVisual evoked potential in young adults: a normative study.
It is important to acquire adequate normative data of visual evoked potential before using it as a diagnostic tool. A study using visual evoked potential with pattern (VEP-P) was conducted in Twenty male and seven female young healthy subjects of 17-35 years age. Ag/Agcl electrodes anchored on scalp with collodion at O1-A1, O2-A2 (10-20 system), with transition skin to electrode impedence kept ...
متن کاملThe transscleral VER: normal responses.
Normative data taken on a sample of 10 eyes indicate that transscleral visual evoked response (TVER) stimulation of the cortical evoked response with a range of lights and at lower adaptation levels produces replicable, low-variance responses which may be of sufficient quality for the clinical evaluation of retinal and visual pathway condition. Response amplitudes were related to the radiant pe...
متن کاملVisual evoked responses to pattern reversal in children.
Pattern reversal evoked potentials (PREPs) were studied in school going children 4-15 years of age (mean 9.9 +/- 2.6 yrs), using Ag/AgCl electrodes anchored on 01-A1 and 02-A2 scalp sites. Two sets of 256 pattern reversal stimuli with check sizes 32' and alternation rate 1 Hz were applied to each eye and evoked responses thus obtained were averaged and analysed by the inbuilt computer of the ev...
